Mineral Paper – How was it for you?

We’ve recently asked some of our Mineral Paper customers to tell us what they thought of it. Here’s what they said:

I do find this very good no problems at all, used for pictures on home made Christmas Cards, pictures on home made DVD covers. Also prints well on my Epson. A good general paper for printing! Save a Tree in the Amazon use Mineral Paper - Save a Tree in the British Isles use Mineral Paper. Regards, D

I found the mineral paper easy to use and the results were as high quality as it tree based counter parts. The main benefit that mineral paper has is that it is very durable and doesn’t mark or dent easily. Regards, L

To be honest, I’ve not used the paper that much as I’ve not done much photo printing at home recently. However, when I have used it, it gave the impression of being tougher and more resilient. Using it was the same as normal paper and the print was just as good, perhaps better. It is definitely a good alternative to traditional papers and with the environmental credentials I will certainly use it in future. Regards, G

I am very happy with the mineral paper. It has a very nice feel and seems very durable. I have been using it for correspondence with customers, and general business paper. Thanks, J

I love all the mineral papers I have bought – both satin and gloss finish – I think the quality is excellent and I think now I would only buy this type (depending on the offers available on this and other types of course as price these days is a high factor but I do prefer mineral). I am glad I came across it for my crafting/photo printing needs. Thanks, B

I use mineral paper to make posters for church notice boards. I find it very good for quality results and it is very strong and it is ideal for posters. Also used for calendars and results are as good as any photo paper I have used in the past. Regards, D

Have to say I’m very satisfied with the results I get from Mineral paper. From the first time I tried it, I was completely won over. I very much like the satin finish and use it for photography work and occasionally for documents where good images are essential. I like the weight and the texture and the fact that it’s impossible to tear. I’m also delighted about the ecological and economic aspects of it. I use an Epson Photo R360 and the mineral paper, though seeming lightweight, takes the ink brilliantly. The images are very sharp. All the best, P

To date I have only used a few sheets of 210 gsm Satin Mineral paper. I think it is excellent quality but this is of course only to be expected since every type of paper I have purchased from you has been of your usual exceptional high standard, by far superior to other suppliers I have tried in the past. The prints/colours are as sharp and vibrant as Mineral as on ordinary paper. I purchased the Mineral Paper chiefly because it is tear and water resistant. I plan to print off some maps and travelling information and I think the mineral paper will be ideal for this purpose. And the bonus is that it is environmental friendly. Thank you for your brilliant service and products. Cheers, K

Good print quality. We mainly use this paper to print posters for local RSPCA using graphics and text. These are subsequently laminated and used to advertise fund raising events in local shops etc. The posters retain their colour and brilliance over extended periods of exposure. Thanks, A

There are good and bad points to the mineral paper as with any paper, The blacks are not as deep as other (but higher price) papers and the colour does need a small correction. To counter the above, the paper is translucent and produces good results when either mounted on white card or better still illuminated from behind the paper. The matt mineral paper when mounted provides a wonderful surface for rock or stone photographs as it lets the ‘texture’ of the photograph show through. Due to the slightly translucent nature, mounting the glossy mineral paper onto the front surface of a glass mirror enhances the contrast of the photograph and produces interesting results when the photograph includes light sources or reflections. This mineral paper provides good tear resistance and will allow a small amount of stretch which enables it to be mounted on slightly
curved surfaces even when curved in both axis. Regards, P

At least as good as tree-paper, and friendly to the environment. Thanks, E

Just to let you know that the Mineral Paper was amazing. I was shocked at how sleek it was, and was perfect for my printing job. The price was also very competitive, and would love to purchase from you again. Many thanks, T

I looked long and hard for an alternative to the 75p-a-sheet semi gloss paper that I needed until I came across ink2paper’s mineral alternative when buying another product from them. I am printing A4 photographs of an extended Scottish holiday which will number in excess of 1,000!
Though this paper is thinner than the ordinary paper alternative it is perfectly adequate for my needs, it goes through the printer extremely well, the ink dries very fast on it and the quality of the photograph is excellent. I can strongly recommend that it is very well worth while trying it – especially as it is so much cheaper too! Cheers, D

Mineral paper found to produce excellent pictures, only problem I found is that paper does not feed through printer on multiple printouts. Thanks, G

I have already used up the paper I ordered and found it exceptionally good quality, and made brilliant posters for our local dramatic society. The colour, definition and paper strength was really good. Regards, B

This is the second time I have ordered and used mineral paper as opposed to my usual ink-jet photo glossy paper. The paper does all that the
photo glossy paper does but in my view gives a better finish for the photo prints for our photo frames. So far I have not experience any banding or bleeding during printing and my ink seems to last longer so for me it will be mineral paper from now on. Yours, J

In answer to your question – yes I have been very impressed with your mission mineral paper, which I have used to produce A4 size photographs on. I am organizing a concert for which I have needed good quality paper to produce some advertising literature. By using the mineral paper I have got wonderful results. Cheers, T

I have tried the mineral paper and liked it better then the glossy paper i normally buy, the texture is good it’s not thin. The prints look really great, i will be ordering more of this paper. Thanks, C

What is Mineral Paper – an ecological inkjet photo paper

Mineral Paper is similar to traditional wood based paper. However it is made with Calcium Carbonate – rocks, rather than tree pulp. No acids, alkali or bleaches are used during its production, and water use is greatly reduced. Any waste created during manufacture is recycled back into the production process. The production is also a less energy intensive process using between 25% and 50% less energy than ‘normal’ photo papers. As such Mineral Photo Paper can be considered a very environmentally friendly alternative to traditional wood based photo papers.

The paper is 80% Calcium carbonate is bonded together with a small amount of HDPE (plastic). This gives the paper a unique ‘feel’ and some very useful properties.

It doesn’t absorb as much ink as regular wood based paper; printed images stay much crisper and cleaner because the ink doesn’t bleed; and it’s tear, grease and water-resistant.

Mineral Photo Paper is available in Gloss, Satin (or semi-gloss/lustre) or Matt finishes and we currently have it in A4, A5, 7”x5” and a traditional 6”x4” size.

Mineral paper really is a great alternative to traditional photo papers. Here are some comments from happy customers who are already using it -

“I found the mineral paper easy to use and the results were as high quality as it tree based counter parts. The main benefit that mineral paper has is that it is very durable and doesn’t mark or dent ” – Lynsey

“I am very happy with the mineral paper.  It has a very nice feel and seems very durable.” – James

“I love all the mineral papers I have bought – both satin and gloss finish – I think the quality is excellent and I think now I would only buy this type.” – Barbara

Eco-credentials: Photo paper really can be environmentally friendly

Photography has never been associated with green. The whole process of developing photos in dark rooms using chemicals. The manufacturing processes involved with making those chemicals – and even manufacturing the paper.

All that has changed. For the first time in over 150 years of developing photographs - printing photos has become far greener. Today, you can print your photos without worrying about the impact on the environment.

Mineral Paper has changed the way people view photo printing. It is paper. But not as you may know it.

Buying Photo Paper: When cheap isn’t cheap

Do you really want “cheap” photo paper? Didn’t think so! If you’re anything like me, you want great value for your money. Paying cheap doesn’t pay.  Unless you really don’t care about your print results.

Who says we really want to buy "cheap". Photo by Sue Richards via Flickr

Cheap spells compromise. And, when it comes to printing photos, it may be a compromise step too far.

It annoys us when we see adverts for “Cheap Photo Paper”.  Because when you study the small print and tot up the sums you realise it isn’t cheap at all. Sometimes it isn’t any cheaper than our highest quality premium papers.

“Just because retailers say a product is cheap, doesn’t mean it is. There’s always a price to pay.”

One thing we’ll never say is that our paper is cheap. It isn’t. And, it certainly isn’t expensive either. Our customers tell us our photo paper is remarkable. That we offer great value for money.  That buying anything else would be a waste of money.

When shopping for photo paper, buying cheap can be very costly….”

Want value for money? Want fantastic print results? Buy Ink2Paper – the premium (not cheap) photo paper.

Let’s talk inkjet paper!

In virtually every walk of life there is now a huge range of different products. All appear to do the same thing and yet can often produce very different results. People often refer to the fact that you only get what you pay for.

The world of Inkjet photographic paper has a huge range of different qualities and because of this we only stock really high quality premium papers. Currently 90 % of our stock is from a mill in Germany who really are world class leaders in the producing of premium inkjet paper.

You need to have the right paper, the right printer and the right settings in order to produce really vibrant and lifelike photo realistic colour photographs. You need to be sure that you know where your paper has come from because that will often determine the product consistency.

Currently we have a 250 gsm glossy double sided inkjet paper which is incredibly difficult to produce but gives you all sorts of possibilities. Especially given that it is such a high quality paper and that you can print on both sides.

We also stock a 230gsm matt double sided inkjet paper.

Finally on the product side it has almost become a trade secret but we’re going to tell the world about it, that it’s the Satin 300 gsm photo paper which gives the most amazing photo realistic prints, virtually every professional photographer I speak to is beating a path to our door so they can produce their own prints to sell to their customers.

Quality Really Counts

We really do believe that quality differentiates products and most of us should demand 100% quality.  We know we can help support your talent and your creativity by giving you a product that we are assured will produce a 100% result every time.

Eco aware? 7 tips to becoming a greener photographer

Are you aware of your impact on the environment? Keen to do something about it? Here are a few tips to help you become a greener and more environmentally responsible photographer…

1. Use rechargeable batteries in your camera. Look for batteries that recharge quickly and provide a long battery life. Also be aware of the number of times a battery can be recharged, and how quickly the battery loses its charge. Some hybrid rechargeable batteries can be recharged hundreds of times. Hybrid battery manufacturers claim that they are cheaper and far better for the environment than alkaline batteries.

2. Switch your PC or Mac off when you’re not using it. Even if it does have an advanced power setting that allows your computer to go into sleep-mode. Don’t leave it running if you don’t need to.

3. Do your photo recce on foot. When out on a photo shoot, if at all possible, go on foot rather than by car. You’ll see more to photograph when you’re out walking.

4. Find local inspiration. When looking for photographic projects, have a look around your local community. You needn’t go far to find great photo opportunities. The proverbial grass isn’t always greener in the next county. If you do need to travel, think about using public transport.

5. Be selective when you print photos. Think before you press the print button. Ask yourself whether the print is suitable to go in your portfolio, be sold as a print, or hung in a gallery. If not, don’t press print.

6. Source your supplies with care. When you buy camera equipment, accessories and materials take a look at the environmental credentials of the company or manufacturer you’re buying from. If at all possible, try to source your equipment locally. Or look for alternative local sources of supply, such as freecycle.org.

7. Choose eco-friendly photo paper. Buy environmentally friendly photo paper such as Mineral Paper from Ink2Paper.com because its totally tree-free,  no water or harmful chemicals are the manufacturing process, and the paper is biodegradable.

Want to print on environmentally friendly photo paper? Choose Mineral Paper from Ink2Paper.com. We believe that its the paper that makes the difference. Test our paper for yourself – and see why professional photographers, designers and artists prefer our paper over branded premium paper.

At Ink2Paper, we  promise to supply you with the highest quality photo paper products at the best prices, with quality of service to match: free next business day delivery and a money back guarantee.

How to choose between Matt, Satin and Gloss Photo papers

What’s the difference between matt, satin & gloss photo paper? In brief, matt photo paper looks duller as it doesn’t reflect light, glossy photo paper looks shiny and reflects light, and satin photo paper falls between the two.

Matt Photo Paper: Old photos were often printed on matt photo paper, and black and white photos look better when printed on a satin or matt photo paper finish. Matt doesn’t reflect light, so is easy to view under any light, however may not have the upmarket look and feel of gloss paper.

Ideal for:

  • Black and white photos – portraits or architectural images
  • Sepia photographs and old family photos
  • Artisitic landscapes
  • Canvas effect photographs

Glossy Photo Paper: Today, people like a gloss finish as it looks and feels luxurious. Colours appear to be brighter and more vibrant. We associate gloss with quality – many upmarket magazines are printed on a gloss paper stock.  Its what people have come to expect. However, gloss may be less easy to view in strong light because of its reflective and shiny surface.

Ideal for:

  • Bright colour photography
  • Modern family portraits
  • Photographic portfolio
  • Wedding photos

Satin Photo Paper: is the perfect compromise between the two as it is less shiny and reflects far less light than gloss paper. You get the best of both: the gloss benefit of sharper colours, brightness and vibrancy, and the matt benefit of a photo that is easier to view under strong light.

Ideal for:

  • Pictures for home or office
  • Photo album
  • Scrapbook
  • Work portfolio

Whether you choose matt, satin or gloss – print your photos on the highest quality premium paper! Choose paper that makes the difference. Choose inkjet photo paper from Ink2Paper.com.

At Ink2Paper, we  promise to supply you with the highest quality photo paper products at the best prices, with quality of service to match: free next business day delivery and a money back guarantee.
